There is a phrase more fitting but less appropriate so well just keep it simple and stop short at calling it bull. This section is for a wide range of VA “inappropriations” as to my claim. More tax payer dollars have been spent here than diagnosis or treatment.

The first section is to the VA’s accusation as to my financial competence in 2011. More to be added as with more sections and sub sections. This is just the beginning….

After four years of the VA gauntlet my claim was finally approved for 100% compensation. Before the VA was willing to finally pay out though, it had one last trick up its sleeve. By labeling me as financially incompetent the VA most importantly would retain control of the compensation, able to decide when, where, and how we would receive my funds and how much of it we were allowed. Not to mention I am a proud (and responsible) gun owner, the Brady Law would have gone into effect for me such as a felon or common criminal. There were more repercussions, but the first was the most concerning. The VA hadn’t done right by us so far, why expect a better job when giving them total control?

As for the claim itself, struck down within the appropriated appeal time. Problem solved, but not really. VA falsified records and lied to bring it about the first time, and now they have themselves on record making the accusations, so it will be looked at in future exchanges (not just the VA as they seemingly don’t mind outsourcing their handy work). Not only do I need this problem reckoned with for my own records, but for other and future Veterans who have and possibly will face the same issues.

What I have… Well In late 2007 we were home shopping, were approved up to $130,000 for a home, but by time I started receiving benefits, the 7 months with no pay or support in between, the thousands of dollars of medical expenses that illegally found their way onto my credit reports, our credit went down. Thru four years partial compensation, time spent living well below any poverty line set nationally or locally, the additional medical debt the VA was charging me with or not paying for, and well, my credit score went below 400. I’ve spent years trying to get the medical debt off my credit records, but even when hiring someone to help with it, some how the debt presets.

So finding a good stable place to live when you can only rent (not VA loan would touch me, and VA compensation doesn’t exactly give enough to save up when running a family) and avoid credit is work in itself. We have done exceptionally well for our circumstances, shielded our kids from the hardships they will hopefully never notice or remember (wishful/hopeful thinking). The VA had already used CPS (a waste of taxpayer dollars and government employees time at best. A fraudulent abuse with the intent to defame/slander my family is more how I see it though) in part of its multipronged retaliation. Of course after investigation we were cleared of charges which should have proved to the VA we were working better with what little we had than they were stating, but months tater in 2011 they may have finally had to buckle on the full compensation, but they were not done yet.

Even though the majority of the time we were making below $2,500 a month and we were a family of four, the VA was not only claiming that I was financially incompetent, but stating that my probable mismanagement of money could be a symptom of drug abuse. During that time the VA choose to ignore my repeated request to look into the posted “bills” (many more to post). Only one was even noted in one of the VA Doctors files, and it was stated it would be looked into (the travel pay from the DoD), but that was years ago, with no word still. The irony is how little the VA is truly concerned with my financial well being, and they have spent more trying to prevent my claim from being completed than on treatment. That the debt the VA spoke of is from them, and used that as part of a claim against us.

At a hearing I brought an entire briefcase worth of receipts, timelines, graphs, charts and analysis. Showing what was coming in verses expenditures, broken down in percentages of income, say housing, food, clothing, utilities or the like, took up per month, for years. No one even took the time to look at any of it, they gave me their copies back, not even kind enough to throw it in the trash themselves… It may have proved my financial competence, but it also proved my time mismanagement. I should have been presenting my case to the people and not to the VA.

Ultimately the VA didn’t succeed to a pile of facts and evidence, but a few simple letters from professionals, a lawyer and a shrink who both knew more than enough to bring up reasonable doubt.

Medications thru VA so far… Morphine, Hydrocodone, Omeprazole, Quetiapine Fumarate, Sertraline, Simvastain, Pantoprazole, Lortab, Cyclobenzaprine, Olanzapine, Divalproex, Docusate, Gabapentin, Oxycodone, Sennosides, Ranitidine, Quitiaprine, Trazadone, Ambien, Methocarbamol, Zoloft, Flexeril, Percocet, Neuyrontin, Vicodin, Butalbital, Fioriciet, Protonix, Zocor, Molindone, Prilosec, Buspirone, Etodolac; 33 and counting (literally, I don’t have all my VA records yet so there could be more I have been subjected to).

This does not include all the over the counter medications, who’s out of pocket cost are in the thousands now for the same medications the VA provides other Veterans for free. The file below is a snapshot in time.

Drug abuse – Though the VA had turned me into a walking medicine cabinet their goals were not to just subdue me, but slander and defame me.  Keep in mind the above medications when entering this section and the chaos that ensues.
